Andrew McAttee "Off the Wall"
an exhibition of new paintings by Andrew McAttee.
Tuesday 21 - Sunday 26 October 2003
Westbourne Studios, 242 Acklam Road London W10 5JJ
Private View Tues 21 October,
7pm-11 pm
The initial impression created by one of Andrew McAttee's pieces borders on a sensory assault, with all manner of shapes, colours and textures bombarding the retina. But in amongst it all there is this overriding sense of movement and vitality, like some psychedelic bubblegum coral reef, teeming with an incredible variety of synthetic species glimpsed for the first time by human eyes. A truly different world. And not one that Andrew McAttee himself can easily explain, pointing out simply that 'what you see is what you see' - not what you get. And that is the beauty of McAttee's work. It embraces so many disparate influences and represents so many different things to so many different people that its appeal is almost universal.
